Recently ACS (American Chemical Society) released a video (2 mins) as part of its International year of chemistry celebrations IYC). I was inspired by ACS efforts during Aug-28 to Sep-1,2011 at Denver (Once a gold miner’s town, now is a growing metropolis!) to popularize and celerate chemistry on this occasion. There were many talks related to IYC and one particular entitled “Exploring Our World through Chemistry,” symposium in honor of the 100th anniversary of Marie Curie’s Nobel Prize was interesting. Can you make machine to speak chemistry? In the future, your mobile phone would be smart enough to understand chemistry and search the world of chemicals known to mankind. Name it blackberry, iPhone, iPAD, laptop, desktop, high performance supercomputer all will speak the language of chemistry, since the world without chemistry is world without LIFE!.. Same chemistry can eradicate life on earth, think of pollution, global warming, chemicals in war, natural disaster (chemical, biological, nuclear), radiation, etc., "handle with care" is the principle in chemistry.. same applicable to our lifestyle. Excess of anything is good for nothing. Some thoughts for the day (to be continued)

Poverty in India

If you Google 'India poverty limit' the first link probably you would get is Wikipedia where you will get the quote “Poverty is widespread in India, with the nation estimated to have a third of the world's poor. Today 'Team India' brought happiness amoung billions of Indians and all the cricket lovers across the world. It was a spectacular show and 'never giveup' attitude of proud Indians in the field. You name it every one was glued to the match either personally or electronically. Sweet 28 years wait paid finally. We need to learn a lot of lessons from this victory. 1) Responsibility 2) Passion for the task in front 3) Making others (entire nation) happy..

When India got freedom, I was not born, I could witness the 'face of one happy india' today irrespective of diversity in age, region etc., It is the best moment for India at Midnight!

As rightly said by our leaders, "This victory will be etched in gold for generations to come."

Human Factor: The great '7' lessons for Success in Life!

Today we are living in a dynamic world. It is hard to find time to read good books and absorb some lessons from others! Life is teaching lessons constantly. We often wonder, why those lessons are not learnt earlier? and is it still too late to react or correct overselves? The best teacher to learn lesson for life is self! If you are proactive, yes, then it is possible to learn from others! There are certain moments in our life which are wonderful and worth remembering!. I was facinated by the thoughts, messages and actions for better life! It is always better to share these thoughts and messages through this blog .. The snippets are reproduced here..

The power of gratitude and forgiveness:

Remember those beautiful moments when you have met someone wonderful, who miraculously seems to think you are wonderful too. You also find your self in the heart of a group of friends sustained by cheerfulness and good humour and you think how lucky you are to have them. Remember the time you were stranded and somebody offered you a timely lift/help. Mother Teresa who treated everything that comes to her as a gift. If you really want to feel enormous gratitude for your messy, problematic life try nearly loosing it. I have never felt so abundantly, humbly, instantly grateful so in love with my life as I did immediately after surviving a road accident!

Living your own life & How to change your self-image:

People always think that a change has to be dramatic and radical and sometimes that can work.Adventures of whatever kind can lead to a dramatic change of self image. And a change of self image leads inexorably to a difference in the way the world treats you. Things that don’t change and stay small are invisible. Surprise people and they begin to look at you in a new way. Transform from a person who says “No” you have to become a person who says “Yes” and that makes all the difference.

Being your own best friend:

Think of the kindest person you know, the most encouraging teacher, the most loving parent. That is the voice you want to encourage in your own head. When you make a mess of tasks, don’t shout at yourself and hurl insults. Sit back, Tell yourself, without heat, that you have not got it right this time, but congratulate yourself for trying. Then suggest to yourself that you have another go, may be trying something differently. Tell yourself that you know you can do it, and gently remind yourself of some past success. And finally if you really want to see your inner monster for what it is, take a piece of paper and write down without pausing to think all rude, destructive and negative things you hurl at yourself in your mind.

A short guide to the subconscious:

Your subconscious mind is at work when you fall asleep with a problem and wake up with a solution. Once you become aware of the ways in which your subconscious mind works the next step is to harness its power on purpose. We should all become skilled at connecting with our unconscious mind because the best decisions are made by a mind cooperating with itself. The huge power of unconscious has over us comes from repression. It is the subversive power of the hidden and unknown- Emotional self- Intellectual self- Spiritual self- Body
Writing a letter to God and getting reply from him:The advantage of writing a letter to God is that you are taking on the voice of an infinitely wise, all seeing, all knowing being with the perspective of eternity. There is a spark of that in all of us, and that spark will illuminate your reply.

The magic of 20 minutes:

Never under estimate the power of inertia. It takes far more energy and fuel for a plane to take off than it does to cruise. Cruising is the easy bit. That’s why the kind of people who finish projects have many ways to get themselves on to the runway and taxiing off. It might take all day for an original idea to happen or nothing happens, but you keep trying and then with a glug and burp things start moving. And it is the small things the increment of 20 minutes that can bring the shift.

Making a life with meaning:

You need shelter, security and sustenance. Without a roof, a lock on your door and food on your table any higher purpose is difficult to achieve.

Hope these selected '7' lessons helps you a lot to be successful in life.
Read more..: Life lesson: Lesley Garner (2008) Things I wish I’d learned earlier.

'Rich or Poor' decided by the 'State of Mind'

India finally shown the world a spectacular CWG event, ninteenth in the series. When I posted the last blog, India was leading with 10 golds and yesterday, it finished second among all the participating countries with 38 gold medals and total of '101' medals, which obviously brought the cheers and great inspiration to all the citizens, sports men and sports women in the country. India projected as a poor country (slumdog !) to the world by the media all these years. Yesterday, it was altogehter a different story by the same media, which projected India as a 'RICH, NEW, YOUNG, MODERN and ACTIVE ++' to the world during the closing ceremony of CWG. From 7.00 pm till 10.00 pm it was a fasinating show for every Indian citizen (Thanks to Doordarshan). Politicians, sports personal, police, Delhi public, spectators, participants and 28,000 volunteers shown unity and performance during this CWG for its great success. Yesterday is already 'history' today! The memory is fresh and you can still live with it 'life-long'. Congratulations to all the winners and all the 'yet to be winners'.

When ever one think of poverty/weakness in some aspects, there comes a new opportunity to show and feel the richness. For examples Money comes and it goes ! Sometime it is highly valued and sometime it is drastically under valued! (People in stock market knows this fact!, even common man get a sense of it when he buys petrol or gold).

I personally belive the 'hard work' generated out of funds or support is highly valued. The equation is very simple. You may have money/funds to generate work or you might have worked for 'free' and preserved a part of it for encashing later. You want to see the money in 'numbers' or to see the work/experience as asset. Which is more risky? Keeping money as 'numbers' in savings or preserving the 'work/experience' as assets for encashing later? Certainly from our early experience the 'numbers' can be lost easily where as 'work/experience' is the asset which is difficult to lose. Look at china, most of the products produced in mass is usually licensed from Developed countries. The workers learn the art at someone's expenses and later encash them when required! Even if they were exploited (in the so called out-sourcing world), still they got some opportunity to learn new skill sets which would certainly help at difficult times. It is the same case with India. We are fast learners and eagerly looking for opportunity! Look at the movie 'Endhiran / Robot' by non other than our 'super-star' from south india, I believe it demonstrates that India can do something which we usually think only 'hollywood' can do! Again it is just state of mind. The moment you think it is 'difficult' you become poor, where as if you think it is 'possible' and suddenly turned to 'Rich'. The yield of hardwork could be respect, human relations, honor, love, good will, frienship, society support, or even mere numbers! Finally it is just a state of mind. We never think in this way.. until we experience ourself what is actually Rich or Poor? It is a very hard lesson to be learned. In the quotes of Mahatma, "Each one has to find his peace from within" (Discover Rich in You!)

India Shining: 10 golds so far at CWG

I composed earlier message with congratulations and best wishes .. by the time I revisited 'Google News' Indian players already updated their records through hardwork with additional 'Gold Medals'. Here are the original quotes from Mahatma Gandhi, true to his LIFE. His life is his message!

Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

As long as you derive inner help and comfort from anything, keep it.

Freedom is not worth having if it does not connote freedom to err. It passes my comprehension how human beings, be they ever so experienced and able, can delight in depriving other human beings of that precious right. I think it would be a good idea.

Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.

Hate the sin, love the sinner.

Honest differences are often a healthy sign of progress.

Honest disagreement is often a good sign of progress.

I believe in equality for everyone, except reporters and photographers.

I cannot teach you violence, as I do not myself believe in it. I can only teach you not to bow your heads before any one even at the cost of your life.

I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.

I want freedom for the full expression of my personality.

In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth.

Indolence is a delightful but distressing state; we must be doing something to be happy.

It is better to be violent, if there is violence in our hearts, than to put on the cloak of nonviolence to cover impotence.

It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.

One needs to be slow to form convictions, but once formed they must be defended against the heaviest odds.

Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.

Victory attained by violence is tantamount to a defeat, for it is momentary.

What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought , "Non-Violence in Peace and War" under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty or democracy?

Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it.

When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it--always.

You must be the change you want to see in the world.

You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.

- Mohandas K Gandhi (Mahatma, A Great Soul)

Sight and Vision

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 244px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Tb7qhitLm4Y/S7bEzYsBxZI/AAAAAAAAAl8/2XItz9TenT8/s320/OSS_s.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5455764385685423506" />

Close your eyes and imagine 'solar system' can you visualize all the planets moving around the sun in their own orbits? Open your eyes and look for all these planets with naked eyes.. can you see them all?

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 234px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Tb7qhitLm4Y/S7bMxuSoCEI/AAAAAAAAAms/gJHSQmFD7_Q/s320/sun_moon_earth.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5455773153217742914" />

It is the difference between vision and sight. It is applicable to every aspects of our human life. It is dangerous to live by sight without vision.

Many people have been living by sight alone, and that's one reason they have all kinds of problems for example, health, professions, financial status, relationships, society etc., Living only by sight can kill us. Life is so full of depressing things that you need to learn to live by vision and see with the eyes of faith. One important factor to get rid of depression is to distinguish the difference between 'needs' and 'wants'. In the illusionary state every thing in the sight might appear 'needs' though they are 'wants'. The simple example is 'house' is the need 'white house' is the wants. Remember that sight is the ability to see things as they are, and vision is the ability to see things as they should be. we know that the discouraging things we see and hear are temporary, they still can distress and depress us. We must keep our visions constantly before us, however, because the visions in our hearts are greater than our environments.

I was inspired by the story told by Swami Vivekananda: [source]

==

A frog lived in a well. It had lived there for a long time. It was born there and brought up there, and yet was a little, small frog. Of course, the evolutionists were not there then to tell us whether the frog lost its eyes or not, but, for our story’s sake, we must take it for granted that it had its eyes, and that it every day cleansed the water of all the worms and bacilli that lived in it with an energy that would do credit to our modern bacteriologists. In this way it went on and became a little sleek and fat. Well, one day another frog that lived in the sea came and fell into the well.
“Where are you form?”
“I am from the sea.”
“The sea! How big is that? Is it as big as my well?” and he took a leap from one side of the well to the other.
“My friend,” said the frog of the sea, “how do you compare the sea with your little well?”
Then the frog took another leap and asked, “Is your sea so big?”
“What nonsense you speak, to compare the sea with your well!”
“Well, then,” said the frog of the well, “nothing can be bigger than my well; there can be nothing bigger than this; this fellow is a liar, so turn him out.”

==

Even today this story is applicable to modern life. Often we come across people who think what they knew is 'great' due to their limited exposure, experience, environment and expertise etc., If you try to tell the 'truth' or 'vision' it is often 'ignored' or 'rejected by the system'. Every one saw sky, 'One' asked the question why it is blue? Every one knows 'things are falling' and 'One' explained.

May be due to 'fear of being turned out from the system' many of us often keep our 'vision' secret helplessly. It requires tremendous courage, confidence and concentration to crystallize the vision and to see things as they should be.

Many times you will feel that people don't see you or recognize you at the peak or your career (middle), may be because you are 'too bright' to see.. it is exactly the same in our real life scenario where you can 'look' at the 'Sun' only in the dawn and dusk times, but not at 'noon' (mid-day). You need special glass or 'vision' to understand this. There are few people who enjoy the comfort of 'dawn & dusk' all times. Now you know the reason why? :)

Sight is important however, please go beyond what you can 'see' and create your own 'vision' for better life!

Purpose of Life

We are not here on earth to struggle for a satisfying existence, or just exist aimlessly to the whims of our destiny. The vedic view is that cessation of all misery is the purpose of human birth. This can be achieved only through complete liberation of our consciousness.

Good and Evil, Happiness and Misery only exist in the mind of the observer. The conditioning of the mind is dictated by the manner in which we live. No one on earth can live a self indulgent, indiscipline and wanton life and hope that his lifestyle will not affect his state of mind, for it would impact all his perceptions and circumstances.

The true freedom comes only through self-knowledge which can free us from miseries. Self knowledge can be achieved by living RIGHT!

1) Moral perfection
2) Worldly attainment
3) Fulfilment of legitimate desires and
4) Liberation

i.e., If one want liberation then first three should be followed otherwise it would lead to arrogant, greedy, POWER-HUNGRY and immoral.

If we live a life of moral perfection, then we live in tune with our real Self, there by always being in tune with pulse of life. We discover how to function in an optimum manner, and have the full support of Providence to evolve because Nature is always inclined towards progression. All our behaviours then become constructive, life enhancing and appropriate. The opportunities opens up to fulfil all our needs. What ever is required to make our lives satisfying unfolds spontaneously.

We are always in the flow of harmonious relationships and supportive circumstances. But we should also cultivate the faith that whatever is showing up is for our highest good. Impatience does not have spiritual virtue. With unshakeable faith in God, we should be joyous and enthusiastic always.

When our life-enhancing, legitimate desires are fulfilled, life is fulfilling, enjoyable and we can devote ourselves to Higher Learning and Practice. As we keep progressing on our path with full dedication, we are foreever assured of God's grace.

* Inspired by "Spirituality : A Way of Life"

Equal Opportunity

Opportunities are for every one. All this seems very soothing to the ears and very fair too. However what is the truth on the ground, in reality especially in work place? On paper yes, all are equal and no one is given advantage over others. If the individuals take their hobby into profession (vice versa), yes they can see the capabilities & opportunities in them.

Man is imperfect in many ways, so he often stumbles in life. Misfortune try him, as FIRE tries GOLD. Failures appear to be unplesant, but in reality, they are very helpful in many other ways. They are the best teachers. Each time we fail, we learn some lessons. (like installing new operating systems / software in a new/old computer or facing interview for new job or existing job etc., :) We come to know the reason of our failure. In the next attempt we guard ourselves against the same 'old' mistakes. The experience we gain each time makes our path of success smooth and easy, and most importantly it makes us very strong and wise. If we give up trying as soon as we meet with failure, we remain defeated in life, even though we might have the necessary power to reach the goal. If a man armed with the experience of failuures picks up courage and goes on doing a thing, success will be his. Others will join hands to support him directly or indirectly. One should not feel ashamed of failure in any attempt. After all SUCCESS is nothing but HONEST attempt through HARDWORK. Success does not guarantee happiness, but happiness brings success for sure.

One of the best example is Indian's struggle for Freedom till Aug 15, 1947. The person to be remembered is non other than the one, who's presence is seen in every currency note of India. When you handle money in India, you should remember our struggle for this priceless freedom! and unity.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 236px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Tb7qhitLm4Y/S7bGubgmLZI/AAAAAAAAAmM/ocyHW-sOuug/s320/mg_s.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5455766499566693778" />

Let us not forget we were slaves and pain we gone through. Except some muscle pain, I was saved with out much disaster (it could be my NEXT LIFE again).. thanks to almighty.. It is a lesson for life.. Down to earth experience, lifted by exactly twice the number of people on street .. one of them even try to 'remove (steal) my mobile' I really don't understand how such an act will 'REALLY' help that person in life? I was shocked but some how with my consciousness through 'eye contact' I could convey the message that it is not a 'GOOD IDEA' for which he responded immediately. My personal experience is that even on this situation, one should not GIVE UP!. It took almost 20 minutes to fully recover from the shock, to be on the motor bike, and to reach hospital for emergency / preventive medication... through out this period, I thanked the god for showing the 'real life situation with out much loss or PAIN'.. so that I could communicate this message to my fellow netizens!

Lesson 1: You may be a Great Personality (according to you and your EGO).. it does not matter .. one day you might be on the ROAD (down to earth) !

Lesson 2: Finally what matters is how helpful you are.. that will repay by saving your LIFE in difficult situation.

Lesson 3: Never Loose HOPE! 'SOMEONE' can come and lift you with 'his' OWN hands! If you strongly believe in 'HIM'.

Lesson 4: Always remember that it could be 'Worse' and this moment too shall PASS!

Lesson 5: Take life as it comes and continue to enjoy every moment of your life..

Next day, with the help of some anti-inflammatory drugs a prescribed, I could perform my duty as per the earlier commitment.. What was a casual enquiry from him, turned into a very useful and fantastic discussion. After exchanging few thoughts and professional backgrounds, the discussion turned into exchange of one important incident re-collected by the visitor. I thought it is worth sharing that is how "This moment also will PASS" is born. Of course the same phrase just by 'chance' I found in one of the google search. ("Nostalgia: Experiencing the Elusive").

There was a king who wanted to know the "Best mantra" to overcome "even the most difficult situation". He called for a meeting of the "best pandits" of the world. After deep thought processes, among all just one pandit handed over a small piece of paper in folded condition. When the curious king was about to open, the pandit cautioned the king, "Oh Dear King, You can see the mantra only when you are in the most difficult situation, which is beyond your capacity to overcome!". The king agreed and kept that small piece of paper hidden in his ring. Time passed, the king almost forgot about the incident. There were several wars which he conquered, however he lost in one of the wars and was left alone wandering in jungles for several years.. and in the depressing journey he even reached the edge of a mountain, with no other option, except ending his life, all of a sudden he remembered the hidden message in the ring, and curiously he opened the piece of paper which was kept in the ring for several decades. He cheered with laugh and the message is nothing but the title of this post.

The rest is history, he could win against his rebels... the story goes on..

What is the moral of this story.. "Never Give Up", "This time also will pass!" you can rise again like a shiny SUN with breeze to enlighten the world ! There is still a Tomorrow awaiting with HOPE!

I really thank my visitor from the bottom of my heart, and with in couple of hours I could finish all the tasks which were long over due (ofcourse I was feeling guilty for delaying), now I cleared my mind with fresh thoughts with new enthusiasm. Hope this post will inspire some one in my situation.. and remember the phrase when you are in The Most Difficult situation.. "THIS TIME ALSO WILL PASS"..

Have a nice day!

Big FISH vs SMALL Fish.. If you "Get" comfort & opportunity through others because of the 'Power and favor' there is equivalent chance of "Losing them". But if you improve your skills and knowledge daily through 'little progress every day' there is sure chance of SUCCESS with BIG results.

"BIG FISH eat SMALL FISH" is the story of past and today. Convroversy is wretched when it is only an attempt to prove another wrong.

One of the oddly inspiring action styles of enduring successful people is that contention is something they actually seekout.

Builders see creative contention as part of a rich collaborative process that never ends .. it inspires action day in and day out in an ever changing environment.

"inBank" Anyone of the team members can click on the button (panic) and give us a stupid rule to kill.

Security is mostly a superstition. She give the test first. the lessons afterwards..

Gain is the edge of loss; loss is the heart of gain. Having many difficulties perfects the being, having no difficulties ruins the being.

Builders harvest failure

Builders (Great Personalities) achieve enduring success when they pour themselves into constructive habits limiting their additions to the passions that serve them.

They just tolerate the risks, feel the fear, take the brickbats, learn from failure and do what matters to them anyway... That's the balance that you are seeking..

Carve out a little time each week, one the job or after work, to experiment in some way with one of your other passions..

The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorabe, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you lived and lived well..

To ask them why they are still working is to dismiss their passions as trivial pursuits. We made that mistake more than once in our interviews. It seemed an innocent question, but only served to demonstrate that we didnot get it..

If there was one thing they all do consistently - one value that they all share in common - it is integrity to what matters to them..

Each of us has to struggle in our own in our own individual way to achieve a measurement of success.

As it turns out, all of the stories of enduringly successful people have some improbable quality to them.

Those who donot know how to weep with their whole heart don't know how to laugh either.

It is like the wizart of Oz. We're looking for a wizard seeking a heart, a brain, courage and the wizard says you already have these things. All you need to do is to use it. When you believe in your great indomitable self, then all things are possible.

Happy ending come from listening to that little voice inside your head - some call it the whisper about what matters to you.

Ultimately, no form of aquisition (having) or activity (doing) can astingy deliver what we long for, the authentic experience of being fully alive.

Do you care more about being loved than being what you love?

Enduringly successful people have concluded that their commitment to the service of others is also in their self interest.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone's else's life..

In order for you to do what matters in a way that you are healthy, you can't pretend or deaden out like a machine- to steel yourself doesnot work. You have to feel everything and use it.

Your personality is not what determines enduring success; it is what you do with your personality that counts.

If it's worth doing then for heaven's sake treat it as if it's worth doing..

Life take passion, determinination and skill. They don't tell you the awful truth about the pain you will face.

The current definition of success is a potentially toxic prescription for your life and work.

Success built to last: [meaning] [thought] [action]

Become consciously aware of what matters to you and then rally your thought and action to support your definition of meaning. That is what we call alignment.

Most of us worry more about being loved that being what we love.

The only place where you find success before work is in the dictionary.

Perfection is finally attained not when there is no longer anything to add but when there is no longer anything to take away.

Listen up: here is some really bad news: It's dangerous not to do what you love..

Execution: The discipline of getting things done" That's what executives are paid for...

To spend any part of your career not knowing why you're there will take your power away. It is dangerous not to be fully engaged.

You know they say that success is getting what you want and happiness is wanting what you get.

When you are deeply immersed in the process of doing whatever you are doing and completely lose track of time and place you are in a flow experience.

Celebrating what's right with the world s an excruciating unhip and uncool thing to do. We are carefully trained by safety conscious parents, in-laws, institutions of higher learning and the evening news to ignore or ridicule optimistic people.

No one can tell you what risks you should take. We are insisting that you must choose a path that you love for better or for worse.

It is exciting to see how fast your kids learn and grow. I am not too worried about them, particularly the ones who like to break the rules and don't follow instructions; those are the ones that will do just fine, because they know what's important to them. (Michael Dell)

To find your mission in life is to discover the instersection between your heart's deep gladness and the worlds deep hunger.

If I see something I don't like , I try to change it, and if can't change it, I change my position of looking at it, and then by seeing it from an different angle. I might be able to change it; or I might find some good in it that I can use, which might make it change itself.

to continue...

"no web content can replace the BOOK: success built to last".. it only makes you to search for it.. If it's untrue, disregard it; if it's unfair, stay calm; if it's ignorant, smile; if it's justified, learn from it.

Love is a gift that God places in the hearts of people the world over.

No one can read your mind, so what they see, hear, and feel from you is what they'll know you for.

Force yourself to think on the good things.
